Sebelius: 'I Think We'll Have the Votes'

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is predicting that health care reform legislation will become law, though she won't propose any timetable for passage- or even the next vote.

"I think we'll have the votes for comprehensive health reform," Sebelius said on NBC's "Meet The Press" Sunday.

Despite a flurry of attempts by host David Gregory to get Sebelius to set a firm deadline for a House vote before President Barack Obama leaves for Indonesia Australia and Guam on March 18, Sebelius would not commit to any timeline. "The urgency...is not about some congressional time clock," she said.

While polls show most Americans opposed to the health care legislation under discussion, Sebelius insisted that there is a groundswell of public pressure for Washington to act on the issue. "The American people are desperate for something to happen," she said.
