Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) Sunday repudiated the Republican National Committee fundraising presentation that included doctored, racially charged images of President Barack Obama as the "Joker" from Batman.
"There no excuse for that type of stuff. I just don't agree with that type of thing," Hatch said on NBC's "Meet The Press."

Hatch said he believed the powerpoint presentation was created by a "junior guy" at the RNC, but host David Gregory noted it was presented at a Florida meeting by the RNC's head of fundraising.

"It shouldn't have happened.....I'm ashamed of that," Hatch said.

Still, Hatch said he continued to have confidence in RNC Chairman Michael Steele. "I think he's a very fine guy," Hatch told NBC. "He made mistakes like everybody does, but he's a good face for our party. I think he's articulate, he's smart, he has a lot on the ball. He's going to get criticized no matter what he does but he was one of the first to come out and say that was irresponsible."

The provocative RNC presentation was first reported by POLITICO.
